What is the Role of Servo Motor?

Table of Content [Hide]

Servo motor device refers to the engine that controls the operation of mechanical components in the servo system, and it is an auxiliary motor indirect speed change device. Generally servo motor product is also called as "servos", which contains a brushless rotary electric motor and a rotational feedback device. As a self-contained electrical device, it is often used for motion control. Then what is the role of servo motor component? In this article, we will introduce for you about the role of servo motor parts.

What is the Role of Servo Motor

    The function of servo motor

The main function of the servo motor equipment  is to control the speed uniformly and stably as the voltage changes. The servo motor is mainly positioned by pulse. When receiving a pulse current, it will rotate a corresponding angle of the pulse to achieve uniqueness, because the servo motor itself also has the function of sending pulse current. Whenever it rotates one angle, it will send out a corresponding number of pulses, which echoes the pulse received by the servo motor, or calls a closed loop. In this way, the system will know how many pulses have been sent to the servo motor. At the same time, the system will also know how many pulses are received, so that the rotation of the motor can be accurately controlled, and the precise positioning can reach 0.001mm.

The reason to choose a servo Motor

Servo motors have many advantages, which are as following.

    Cost saving

    High accuracy

    Highly reliable

    Highly efficient

    Small in size

    Quiet operation

    Smooth running

    High acceleration

    Closed-loop control

    Suitable for harsh environments

High ratio of torque to inertia

Since servo motors are various and have many advantages, they are widely used in different industries for various applications including many commonplace applications such as toys and home electronics. In some specific industries, people often use servo motors to replace conventional AC motors, stepper motors and hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

    The uses of servo motor

In robotics fields, servo motors are the ideal choice for use in this upcoming industry since they are lightweight and small.

In simulation applications, the use of servo motors realizes desired features in the modern industry, such as speed, torque and smoothness etc.

For defence fields, good-quality servo motors play an important role in harsh environments, since they can be exposed to high temperatures and high shock loads.

For machine Tools, many machine tools need to use the high accuracy servo motors to complete the production.

In subsea, oil and gas applications, Siemens servo motors can meet the requirements of high pressure, high temperatures and explosion proof requirements for this environment.

In conveyer and handling systems applications, high speed servo motors are often used since they have the features of high accuracy and torque.

Since the servo motor has the characteristics of high precision, stable speed, strong overload capacity, low noise and low temperature rise, it is widely used in machine tools, printing equipment, packaging equipment, textile equipment, laser processing equipment, robots, automated production lines and other equipment motors that require relatively high process accuracy, processing efficiency and work reliability.
